It’s been a fantastic start to England’s topflight for the Northern sides this weekend – each putting points past their southern counterparts.
Let the Show Begin
The promoted teams are showing their worth across the country – turning positive displays into points – and threatening to end the instant-relegation curse that has haunted new arrivals in recent seasons.
Friday night set the tone as Leeds United produced a dynamic display of athleticism, carving through a struggling West Ham in a comfortable 2-1 victory.
A short-ranged tap in by Brenden Aaronson, was quickly followed by a bullet header from Joe Rodon – as The Hammers conceded their ninth set piece goal of the season.
Where Rivals Unite
As the clocks shifted into 3 p.m. on Saturday, the lights and cameras were ready for action. Sunderland completed a comeback for the ages against Chelsea in a tight affair sealed by two goals from Wilson Isidor and Chemsdine Talbi.
Another remarkable performance from the newcomers that saw them soar to second in the table after just nine games.
Local rivals Newcastle also look to be finding their rhythm. Impactful substitute cameos against Fulham turned the game around just as it seemed to be slipping away – a 2-1 win sealed by Jacob Murphy and a last-minute winner from Bruno Guimarães.
Meanwhile, Manchester erupted as Mbeumo’s brace at Old Trafford powered the Red Devils to an emphatic 4-2 win over Brighton.
A game that finally showed sparks of Amorim’s style, and a match that saw Matheus Cunha break his sixteen-match goal drought, as his wonderful first-half finish opened the scoring.
Even the Biggest Fish Got Fried
And just when the dust seemed to settle, the day ended with another upset – champions Liverpool were stung by the Bees, as Brentford claimed a memorable 3-2 victory over the Scouse giants.

A Case of Sunday-Syndrome
A day full of shock and shudders – the Premier League’s unpredictability lives to fight another day.
The beginning of a throwback weekend filled with great goals, crunching corners, and long-throws that raised the roof. A wonderful start – and hopefully, a tone-setter for the five more fixtures to come on Sunday.
